What is the difference between FTTH and FTTB?
Jul 11, 2017

The main difference between fiber-to-the-home (FTTB) and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) is the cost of operators.

In simple terms, FTTB requires fewer cables, fewer host devices (olt), and fewer end devices (onu / ont).

For the user, strictly speaking, no difference, network cable to households can also carry Gb level of bandwidth.

Tips:

Fiber to the home: This is a fiber optic transmission method. Is directly connected to the user's home fiber (where the user needs).

Fiber to the building:EPON also has an unparalleled advantage. FTTB access can be for office access to business users, or for residential access to ordinary households. At present, FTTB access is mainly FTTB + LAN, and some commercial buildings use MSTP technology. FTTB + LAN mode is poor management, fault points, high maintenance costs and other shortcomings, and MSTP is based on traditional SDH technology, high technology costs, poor adaptability to IP services, while the lack of flexibility and scalability, not suitable for access Network scale deployment features.
